National Geographic A Diver's Guide to the World: Remarkable Dive Travel Destinations Above and Beneath the Surface

This book is a work of art. National Geographic have outdone themselves yet again. The photographs are stunning. The text is exceptionally informative. The dive sites they have covered are not the usual ones mentioned in most dive books and guides. Non-divers will certainly enjoy this book too as it doesn’t only cover what’s below the waves but other interesting places in the surrounding area. The addition of a piece by Sylvia Earle is simply inspirational. Don’t hesitate to pick up a copy. This book will soon become a must-have classic. You’ll be planning your next dive trip in no time but it may be to somewhere you’ve never considered before.

As an armchair traveller myself with a granddaughter who dives I was impressed by this truly inspiring and beautiful book, and loved reading the adventurous anecdotes that appear like little gems throughout the text. I bought two copies, one for me, one for my granddaughter Marianna.

This is an absolutely wonderful book, filled to the brim with great suggestions and guidance for the most fascinating diving locations in the world. It combines history and marine biology for an entertaining and informative read. The images and text are beautifully balanced, with a useful 'need to know' page for each location, giving suggestions for travel, diving, accomodation and food and drink.I was very happy to see the lovely island of Alonissos featured, where I go each year, along with many other locations that I had never heard of before. It's given my wonderlust a great boost, and I look forward to exploring some of the amazing places this book has brought to my attention in the near future!

Stunning book, beautiful photos and descriptions of far away places... makes me dream of days spent under the water - and above ground.Love the description of the first place mentioned in the book - Alonissos - as I am very familiar with this island and couldn't agree more on the praise for the place.Told my friend who has 2 diver instructor daughters, so I hope they will also buy this book.I really like the stories of the people Carrie and Chris met on their travels - it makes for such interesting reading!
