Definitely does the job
Although generally ok .Not as good as my original as No nice smell coming from it. We use it in our fire pit that friends sit around especially this year during Covid so some fragrance would have been nice

I'm conflicted by the ecological profile of this product
The Green Olive Firewood Company describe this Olive Wood Net bag as a natural and green renewable energy source, a by-product of the olive industry in Europe that would otherwise go to waste. The wood is dense and burns for longer than some other woods, and smells nice when it burns. All good so far. But my first question is whether shipping wood to the UK from many miles overseas can ever be as ecologically friendly as shipping locally grown and cut wood? Surely it's better for a relatively heavy product like this to travel the minimum possible distance before use - and while we don't have an olive industry here in the UK it's reasonable to assume that we have a good number of trees that can be harvested in a sustainable way for firewood? Having said this, I appreciate the value of making use of wood that would have otherwise gone to waste, and I imagine it's sourced very cheaply which is why it makes economical sense to ship it here.My second question is related to the transport of this product from overseas - biosecurity - fortunately our log store is under cover outdoors, because many of the olive logs in my bag are fairly riddled with woodworm. I have absolutely no idea whether these woodworm are active or have somehow been killed off before reaching me. If they are active then we're transporting an insect species from overseas that we would probably be better off without - or should at least control like they do in Australia and New Zealand - new pests and diseases can not only have an impact on human health but can also damage agriculture, horticultural production and forestry. In summary - what seemed like an attractive product when I ordered it has caused me to think carefully about how sound an idea it really is.

Bag is the size of a pillow
I thought that this bag will take up an unreasonable amount of space in my flat; however, this 10kg mesh bag is the size of an average pillow. All chunks of wood are roughly the same size, ranging between 20-30cm in length. They are small enough to fit into the portable fire-pit I have in my garden. All in all, super convenient to get this delivered to my home but £17.99 is very pricey for firewood. It will last me a long time though so I don't mind.

Wood worm?
I wanted this solely for smoking on the barbecue. I put two pieces on first and then added the hot charcoal. I use a kettle barbecue and use the lid to radiate the heat, keep the flames down and the smoke in.Everything was good and the sausages had a lovely tan colour and a sweet smoky taste. So that's all good, now the not so good points: as an addition to a barbecue for the smoke, they're well priced but I personally couldn't afford to be burning this wood on a wood stove. The wood is hard and feels dense but didn't burn for quite as long as I'd expected, although it was plenty long enough to cook all our food. Now the thing that would possibly prevent me from buying this is fact that it's all riddled with holes from some type of grub (wood worm or something similar looking). So I'm concerned about these insects getting into the woodwork around my house and sheds. I don't know if it's a valid concern but I like to be cautious. And, should the wood have been treated (as I'm sure it should be if entering from another country full of insects). If so, what chemicals am I now burning and smoking into my food?I store the bag of wood in a plastic bench away from my house and sheds.
